چکیده

Nanoparticles are one of the most important prominent areas in the field of nanotechnology, with a broad significant role in current life sciences and human healthcare applications. Among the nanoparticles silica nanoparticles are explored in many biological applications because their size dependent novel properties and functions differ drastically from those of the bulk materials. In biomedical research, silica nanoparticles act as a novel class of nanodetector or nanoseparator with unique advantages due to their size, biocompatibility, specificity and other size dependent properties. In this review, we describe the applications of silica nanoparticles in the field of biomedical nanotechnology such as highly sensitive bioanalysis systems for targeted drug delivery, clinical diagnosis and immunoassay.

Ultrasensitive DNA detection using highly fluorescent bioconjugated nanoparticles.

Sensitive DNA detection is extremely important in clinical diagnostics, gene therapy, and a variety of biomedical studies. We have developed a novel DNA bioanalysis method with a 0.8 fM (0.8 x 10-15 M) detection limit using a bioconjugated fluorescent nanoparticle-based sandwich assay. An organic dye silica nanoparticle is synthesized using a modified reverse microemulsion. The nanoparticles ar...

Preparation of New Composite Films Composed of Size-Controlled Cobalt Oxide Nanoparticles Dispersed in Organically Modified Silica Glass

The pyrolysis of transition metal carboxylates into organically modified silica glass-ZrO2 hybrid sol-gel films yields composite materials containing cobalt oxide nanoparticles in various proportions. The particles have sizes ranging from 5 to 10 nm, and they are homogeneously dispersed in the final materials. A reaction temperature near 250°C results in translucent films that have good mechani...

Folate receptor targeting silica nanoparticle probe for two-photon fluorescence bioimaging

Narrow dispersity organically modified silica nanoparticles (SiNPs), diameter ~30 nm, entrapping a hydrophobic two-photon absorbing fluorenyl dye, were synthesized by hydrolysis of triethoxyvinylsilane and (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane in the nonpolar core of Aerosol-OT micelles. The surface of the SiNPs were functionalized with folic acid, to specifically deliver the probe to folate receptor ...
